Schematics of Alligator by de Villeroi
| Although dated 1863, these schematics show the Alligator as originally designed by Brutus de Villeroi, (e.g., note the paddle propulsion system, which was replaced by a central screw propeller in the vessel's winter 1862/63 refit, as well as features that were not implemented at all: the auger in the bow, the obstruction-cutters, and underwater cannon). Each picture is linked to a hi-res 7"x36" PDF file, and there is a modern redrawn plan as well. |
